Yesterday and today (3/17 & 3/18) teachers have been working hard to create online classrooms through Google Classroom.
Each student should have been contacted with instructions on how to log in.
If you have not received these instructions please call the school and ask to speak to your child's teacher.
For those parents that need to borrow technology, you must come to the school (MAIN BUILDING) and fill out a usage agreement form.
This will be available on Wednesday from 10am - 1pm and on Thursday from 9am- 2pm. Please bring ID with you to the MAIN BUILDING.
Laptops are VERY limited and should be reserved for those that have no technology at home. Only one per family will be allowed to be borrowed.
If any parent would like worksheets and packets for the next few weeks, those will also be available outside of the main building
Thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time.

!!ALL NYC SCHOOLS CLOSED UNTIL APRIL 20th!!
As you know, the Mayor has decided to close all NYC schools until April 20th. As of now there are several opportunities for students to access online learning material. For students in grades 5-8, assignments will be sent to them through their Google accounts at PS83.org. For students in K-4th grade, we are in the process of creating accounts for each child and will disseminate that to you shortly. If you do not have access to technology, the mayor is working on providing that to you somehow, we are all awaiting that strategy. The DOE has issued a set of grade level assignments that you can start working on if you would like. The website is Learn at Home. Over the next week, teachers will be in the building to learn more about online learning and how we will make this all possible. We understand that these are uncertain times, but we will do our best to partner with you to provide educational content to your child while we are not physically at the school.
For those that get meals from the school, you may still do so by visiting us from 7:30am-1:30am.
Any information that you may need regarding updates on attendance, online learning, meal programs or anything else related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) and NYC schools can be found on the NYC Info Hub page.
Please make sure you are connected to the school in some way via electronic communication. Whether it be the PS 83 Donald Hertz App or the IO Classroom App available at the iTunes or Android store, www.ps83.org, PTA email list, Parent Coordinator email list, , or individual teacher’s class Dojo.

PS 83 Pumpkin Patch
Thank you Councilman Vacca!!
Today Councilman Vacca came to visit us to introduce a new horticultural grant that will allow us to convert our front yard into an outdoor classroom. With the help of the Horticultural Society, we will be building upon our garden while also creating an outdoor classroom with tree stumps for chairs and desks.
The event started with the Councilman giving away pumpkins and reading a book called How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin? by Margaret McNamara.
